BOOK SALE NEWS
It’s that time of year again! In just a few short weeks, our semi-annual Book Sale will take place at the library. On Saturday, April 25th, from 9 am-4 pm, the library will be filled with books representing every genre. Popular categories such as Fiction, Mystery, Biography, History, Poetry and Literature will fill the Buel Room. There will be Children’s and Young Adult books, as well as Cookbooks, Gardening and DIY books, and offerings in Art, Travel, Maritime, Nature and Science displayed throughout the library. There will also be our very popular collection of puzzles and games for sale. Hardcover books are $3.00 or 2 for $5.00, and larger softcover are $2.00 each. Certain special items are priced separately. On Monday, April 27th, we hold our Bag of Books sale from 9 am -3 pm, where all you can fit in a bag is $10.00. A second bag is $5.00.
In addition, the 2nd Annual Bake Sale will provide amazing treats for our patrons to purchase. What is better than buying books and baked goods to support the Essex Library?
Thank you to all of the patrons, sponsors, staff, and the many volunteers who made Casino Night such a fun and successful event! All of the proceeds from this event as well as the book sales go to support the programs and services of the Essex Library. We appreciate all of you!
Thank you for your donations, which The Friends sort and categorize for resale. Please make sure they are in very good condition. We do not accept reference books, textbooks, magazines, CD’s, or any books in dirty or unsaleable condition.

When and where do I bring my donations to the library?
Please bring items to the circulation desk. Donation can be dropped off during reualr library hours.
What happens to donations?
Donated items are screened for use by the library. If they do not go on the library shelves, they are sorted, priced, and put into categories for our book sales. We do not have a lot of sorting room so they go into category boxes in the order in which they arrive. Items that don’t sell during our sales continue their journey and are saved for subsequent focused sales or put on the Freebie cart near the library entrance.
Can I get a tax deduction?
The library will be happy to give you a form that thanks you for your donations but does not put a monetary value on them. Ask for the form when you bring in your donation items.
