Farmer’s Markets

Chester Sunday Market: Located at the town center of Chester. The market is open weekly on Sundays through October 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

East Haddam Farmers’ Market: Located at Ballek’s Garden Center, 90 Maple Avenue in East Haddam. The market is open weekly on Wednesday 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with special monthly events June through September.

Ivoryton Farmer’s Market: Located on the Ivoryton Green, next to the Ivoryton Playhouse (103 Main Street). Through September 29, the market is open weekly on Saturday 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. You’ll find Connecticut grown local produce, as well as enjoy live music every week.

Lyme Farmers’ Market: Located at the Ash Lawn Farm, 78 Bill Hill Road in Lyme. Through September 15, the market is open weekly on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Old Saybrook Farmer’s Market: Located at 210 Main Street in Old Saybrook. From June 30 through October 31, the market is open on Wednesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m

Westbrook Farmer’s Market: Located at the Tanger Outlets at 314 Flat Rock Place in Westbrook. June through October, the market is open weekly on Thursday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Summer Concert Series

Deep River Summer Concert Series “Music and a Meal”: Weekly concerts take place at Plattwood Park, The Stone House, or Town Landing. If rainy, concerts move to the Deep River Town Hall Auditorium at 174 Main Street. Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. (FREE!) Essex Parks & Recreation Summer Concert Series: Located at the Ivoryton Green or the Essex Town Green on Main Street. Join your friends and family for a fun filled evening of music. Through August 15, concerts are Tuesday or Wednesday evenings 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. (FREE!)

The Company of Fifers and Drummers Summer Concert Series: Located on the grounds of the Museum of Fife and Drum at 62 North Main Street in Ivoryton. During July and August, weekly concerts take place on Tuesday evenings 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Rain or shine.) Hot dogs and hamburgers available for a nominal fee. Thursdays on the Dock: Located at the Connecticut River Museum, 67 Main Street in Essex. Starting July 5 through August 30, enjoy weekly concerts while overlooking the scenic Essex Harbor on Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Cash Bar and Porky Pete’s BBQ available.

Old Saybrook Summer Concert Series: Pack a picnic, bring some chairs and enjoy an evening of great music at the Old Saybrook Town Green on Main Street. Through August 22, concerts take place Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy five Friday evening concerts at Harvey’s Beach at 7 p.m. as well. (FREE!)

Westbrook Summer Concert Series: Located at Westbrook Town Green at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 153. From July 6 through August 31, concerts are held every Friday. July concert times are 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. In August, the concert times are 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (FREE!)

Historical Societies

Chester Museum at the Mill: Located at 9 West Main Street in Chester. Through October, the museum is open Saturday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For an appointment, visit their website or call 860-526-5765. (FREE!)

East Haddam Historical Society & Museum: Located at 264 Town Street in East Haddam. Through  Columbus Day, the museum is open every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 per adult; children under 12 are free. For an appointment, visit their website or call 860-873-3944.

Hart House of the Old Saybrook Historical Society: Located at 350 Main Street in Old Saybrook.   Through September 1, the house is open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Frank Stevenson Archives are open Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. ($5 donation non-members) For an appointment, visit their website or call 860-395-1635.

Pratt House Museum of the Essex Historical Society: Located at 19 West Avenue in Essex. Through October, the house is open for tours every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  For an appointment, visit their website or call 860-767-0681. (FREE!)

Westbrook Historical Society Museum:  Located at 1196 Boston Post Road in Westbrook, the museum is open Wednesdays 9 a.m. to noon or by appointment. Please visit their website or call 860-399-7473. (FREE!)
